Henderson Back On Track After Rocky Start

Henderson sits three shots back of Nicole Broch Larsen, who is in the midst of her rookie season on the LPGA Tour. However, she has won on the Ladies European Tour before and was the LET Player of the Year in 2015. Mo Martin’s last LPGA Tour win came at the 2014 RICOH Women’s British Open.

Larsen fired a 5-under-par 66 on Saturday and Martin carded a 4-under 67. They are both at 10-under 203 after three rounds. This gave them a one-shot lead over In Gee Chun of South Korea who shot a 1-under 70. Mirim Lee of South Korea scored 5-under 66. Cristie Kerr shot a 5-under 68 Saturday.

For the 19-year-old Henderson, having eight birdies and no bogeys, became quite the sensational topic of the day. The 63 tied her lowest-ever score on the LPGA Tour.

Henderson is a member at Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club but said she never keeps score when she plays the course, so doesn’t know if she’s ever shot this low before. She went bogey-free on Saturday, but birdied her final two holes to shoot 63.

“I think everything was going right today. I hit the ball really well and I made a lot of putts. That was really key for me,” Brooke Henderson said.

Henderson admitted the hometown crowd helped.

“Coming up 18 I kind of just took a peek around and I didn’t see any green grass outside of the ropes. Everybody was everywhere,” said Henderson. “It’s such an incredible feeling. Being so close to home makes this week so much more special.”

Tied with Henderson at 7-under are Mi Jung Hur of South Korea, Shanshan Feng of China, Stacy Lewis, So Yeon Ryu of South Korea and Marina Alex.

Martin had two bogeys on her round, but stayed tied for the lead thanks to six birdies. Larsen had one bogey but had six birdies.
